Counselling and Therapy Website Links
Beyond Blue
For more than 20 years, Beyond Blue has been a trusted source of mental health information, support and hope for people across Australia. As one of the country’s most recognised and widely used mental health organisations, Beyond Blue provides 24/7 support and takes seriously the responsibility to listen, understand, and place people at the centre of everything they do.
Stand By Support
Often, when someone we are supporting has taken their own life, we can feel lost and unsure of how to help. This website offers particularly valuable resources for children and teenagers, including simple, free and printable booklets designed to gently support young people through the overwhelming experience of grief.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Self Help
This website has been developed by people who use Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) as part of their own growth and recovery. It offers a range of simple yet powerful resources that can be used both by individuals seeking support and by professionals looking for practical tools to share with their clients.
Mindfull Australia
This organisation promotes a clear understanding of mindfulness to support resilience, self-awareness and wellbeing. It provides evidence-based, practical resources and training for both beginners and those with an established practice, offering a grounded alternative to commercialised, ineffective “feel-good” mindfulness approaches.
Very Well Mind
Verywell Mind is dedicated to helping people prioritise their mental health and find balance in everyday life. Recognising that mental wellbeing is not one-size-fits-all, the platform offers practical, accessible information and resources to support a wide range of needs, from managing stress and mental health conditions to strengthening relationships and understanding psychology,
ACT Mindfully
Dr Russ Harris is a strong advocate of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which focuses on accepting what cannot be changed while committing to meaningful change in areas within our control. His website offers a wide range of practical resources, workshops and free materials that are valuable for both clients and clinicians. Two of his well-known books, The Happiness Trap and The Reality Slap, are also highly recommended.
Autism Resources
Autism Queensland
Autism Queensland provides a range of services and programs to assist autistic children and adolescents (6-17 years), their families and the professionals who support them. They visit schools to make sure that the school is taking into account the needs of the student. I encourage you to call them and talk to them.
Raising Children Network
Autistic children and teenagers can experience anxiety more intensely and frequently than their peers, so it’s important to identify triggers and recognise anxious feelings. Strategies such as relaxation, visual supports, and practice for stressful situations can help, and professional support may be needed for higher levels of anxiety.
The Australian Centre for Genomic Analysis
This organisation focuses on genomics for children with autism, as well as people with gut issues and chronic illnesses. Every child on the spectrum is unique, their DNA, their essence, is unlike any other. We recognise and celebrate these differences, and tailor solutions for each child according to their DNA to respect and address their individuality and resonate with who they are at a cellular level. Find out more about our innovative approach developed by Dr Heather Way (PhD) to help your child reach their full potential.
